Don Mattingly Pulls His Own 1984 Topps Rookie Card

"It's the ultimate." That's how Yankee legend and current Marlins manager, Don Mattingly, described what it was like seeing himself on a baseball card for the first time. Donnie Baseball sat down with Topps and ripped 1984 wax packs, hoping to pull his rookie card. While opening the packs, Mattingly told some cool stories from his playing days.

Watch as Mattingly talks about his favorite player growing up, which Yankees took him under their wings, and actually liking the old sticks of gum from wax packs, To top it off, Mattingly pulled his iconic rookie!

Mattingly was THE guy for me growing up, and his 1984 Topps rookie card is my all-time favorite card. At one point, Mattingly was the best in the game and his card was as hot as can be. Opening packs of 1984 baseball cards brings me back to the days when all that mattered was pulling your favorite player and making sure you didn't miss Transformers or Heathcliff on TV.

Very cool to watch Donnie Baseball pull his own rookie card fresh from a pack. We've pulled a few 1984 O-Pee-Chee Mattingly rookie cards like this pull here.
