San Diego Chicken Card Pulled from 1982 Donruss Pack by Vintage Breaks

Perhaps the most famous mascot of all-time made an appearance in our card breaks here at Vintage Breaks. Feast your eyes on this 1982 Donruss San Diego Chicken card!

Sorry, Cal Ripken, the best card in 1982 Donruss isn't your rookie card; we know the top card is the San Diego Chicken! The Chicken is one of the greatest mascots of all-time. The showmanship on the field with umpires, players, and fans like you was so big that the Chicken may be more recognizable than the players on the field. In June of 1979, the Padres made an offer to the Chicken that paid him MORE than any player made for a day. The Padres averaged 15,000 fans per game, and told the Chicken they'd offer $1.25 per person over that average attendance if they came out to see the mascot. That evening, the Padres drew 49,000 fans and had to cut the Chicken a check for $40,000!

We went back in time to 1982 when the Chicken was the star, E.T. was in theatres (June 11th), Michael Jackson released Thriller (November 30th), G.I. Joe was the toy to have, and a dozen eggs was only 87 cents when we pulled and held this card:
