Pete Rose Breaks 1970 Topps Baseball Card Pack With Vintage Breaks

The MLB all-time hit king, Pete Rose, sat down with us here at Vintage Breaks to open a 1970 Topps baseball cello pack! Hear amazing stories about Roberto Clemente, advice Pete gives to kids, and why our boss, Leighton, was sweating.

Pete Rose was a LEGEND on the baseball field. We're all well aware of why Pete is not allowed into the Baseball Hall of Fame, but "Charlie Hustle" left it all on the field. A record 4.265 career hits, three World Series championships, an MVP award in 1973, and a pair of Gold Gloves to show us his defensive prowess matched his offensive game. We were ecstatic to Mr. Rose join our card breaks back in 2018 as he helped us open a 1970 Topps baseball cello pack. As we were prepping to move into our new office here in Millburn, NJ., we were reminiscing about the fun we had back in Somerset. This break came to mind and we want to share it with you today.

Hear Pete Rose talk about battling Roberto Clemente for a batting title. Love that Pete called him "Bobby." Imagine being that cool with Roberto Clemente back in the day that you could call him him Bobby. Rose tells stories about  about growing up with Don Zimmer, the man Rose states knew more about baseball than anyone. From which player Rose idolized to advice for kids, this break is fantastic.  OH - and we're looking at pack-fresh 1970 Topps cards!

We love when Pete stops and asks Leighton why he's sweating. We're not sure if L-Train was sweating because he was sitting next to one of the greatest players of all-time, or that Pete kept grabbing the cards and not exactly handling them with care. At one point, Pete had a card in his hand as he was motioning how long a home run was hit 😂  What a memorable break. Let's see Leighton's face:

All in good fun, Mr. Rose! Pete didn't know the value of the cards like we do here for you at Vintage Breaks. We like to make sure your cards are handled carefully and placed in protective holders for you. Leighton brought The Hit King up to speed and he was handling the cards as smooth as his swing after that.

Plans are in the works for our next celebrity break. Keep checking here at VB to see which legend will join us soon. If you're looking to join our pack breaks, come window shop for your next break here:
