A pack-fresh rookie card of The Kid? Yes, please! During our card breaks, we opened a pack of 1989 Upper Deck baseball and pulled a Ken Griffey Jr rookie card.

Remember opening packs of 1989 Upper Deck baseball? The very first year UD came into the baseball card world and shook us up with the "foil" pack. Where was the wax pack? Where was the gum? Upper Deck wanted to change the pack game and we loved every second, didn't we? We'd rip that foil open and look for card #1 - The Kid, Ken Griffey Jr.

We love bringing back those memories. Back to 1989 when Michael Keaton was Batman, we played Gameboy until the batteries died, and Ton Loc hit us with the Funky Cold Medina. Manny Ortega purchased a personal pack of 1989 Upper Deck and wanted to go hunting for a Griffey rookie, just like we were back in 1989.

Congrats, Manny! There is the card we all loved to pull over 30 years ago and we still love chasing it today. There is Griffey, flashing a smile for the camera with a bat in his hand on that rookie card S10 is holding. Waiting to hit his 630 career home runs, win 10 Gold Gloves, and take home the 1997 AL MVP award, Griffey was gearing up to be a LEGEND in that rookie card.
